Chameleon Nail Polish

Today while I was at Rite Aid I found these cute little nail polishes called Chameleon Nail Polish. They are manufactured by the same company as CQ nail polish. They are exclusive to Rite Aid so if you want them, thats the only option.

They are very shimmery and duo-chromy in the bottle.

Without Flash, No Top Coat

Okay I still don't know about these polishes. I want to love them! But quite honestly I dont know, these were pretty opaque (I didn't expect them to be) I used three coats just to be safe. They were still oddly streaky and  ended up having more of a frost finish than a duochrome like the bottle. I wish the cool colors stayed on the nails but, oh well. I added a top coat to see if it would be improved.

No Flash, With Top Coat

I don't know if the top coat helped or not.... I think the issue is it doesn't self level. I would love to make these work because for $3 a bottle is awesome.

If you could give me any pointers on this specific brand, or your experience with it. Or even if you could give me tips on applying frost finishes.
Thanks and Happy Wednesday :)

Remover Comparison

Okay so exams are upon us! I have no time for nails which is very depressing but I still will try to blog everyday :) It just might be late at night! Because this post is soooo late and there was no post yesterday, this is my sorry post number 1 (there will be a second one too)

For my first post I will be comparing 3 different removers. I personally just use pure acetone because I don't like to mess around taking my nail polish off. I wouldn't have tried the other ones but I got two free samples so I figured I would see what all they hype is about. They will be compared in several different categories so lets get started!

I compared Zoya's Remove +, Sephora by OPI's Nail Color Remover, and pure acetone.

This is what my nails looked like after 3 swipes of the cotton pad. (And I had like 5 coats on so they were all pretty good)
Pointer:  Zoya
Middle: Sephora
Ring: Pure Acetone

Zoya Remove +
Smell: A little overpowering, but not an alcohol smell. Reminded me of perfume.
Total Amount of Swipes Until Completely Removed: Average for both hands = 22
Dryness After: There was little dryness afterward, but I felt like it left a greasy residue on my nails.
Price: 32 oz for $25 ($0.75 per oz)

Sephora by OPI's Nail Color Remover
Smell: A light fruity smell, not overpowering at all.
Total Amount of Swipes Until Completely Removed: Average for both hands = 22
Dryness After: There was little dryness afterward, but it was easily taken care of.
Price: 4 oz for $9 ($2.25 per oz)

Pure Acetone
Smell: Smells like acetone haha. Pure alcohol smell.
Total Amount of Swipes Until Completely Removed: Average for both hands = 10
Dryness After: There was just a bit more dryness than Sephora, it didn't bother me after my base coat.
Price:  32oz for $5 ($0.16 per oz)

CONCLUSION!!
When it comes down to it I don't see the benifit of using special remover, for the price it should work better. I am going to stick to acetone. You just cant beat the price and the smell goes away! haha

What remover do you use? Should I give these other removers a try?

BUSY DAY :(

Unfortunately, I have been ridiculously busy today. This was the earliest I could blog :( So.... A Mani I did before Easter Vacation :)

I got this idea a while ago and my roommate loves animal print. So, TAH DAH :)
I used Konad plates for the designs and tape to keep the designs in the right area.

And my highlight of the day.......

MY BUNDLE MONSTER PLATESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Both sets and I am already loving them!!
However, my chemistry test is not allowing me to play with them until tomorrow night :(

Did anyone else get their plates in?! Did you get to use them yet?!
Good night :)

Easter Mani - Day 3!

Happy Easter to all that celebrate :) And Happy Sunday to everyone else!!!

I Have had a lot of fun with Easter this year (It is my favorite holiday :) and I am going to share some of my fun with you!

First, coloring eggs..... I guess all kinds of color (not just nail polish) love my fingertips.

Keep in mind that this was after 3 hand washes :)

But it does give my Easter mani that extra something :)

Instead of a green thumb I have a pink one :) I think we should use a pink thumb to describe nail polish lovers :D

Anywhoo I'm an idiot and forgot my camera connector at school so you are just going to have to look at the phone camera version of my mom's Easter mani. And just know that the awesomeness is even better in real life :)

UPDATE :)

She wanted all of her nails to look like they were Easter eggs. I love the way it turned out :D and they are soooo shiny its ridiculous!! Everyone was stopping her and asking her where she got her nails done. She was so cute and proud :)

For the colors I used Color Club Yum-Gum (hot pink), Twiggie(Green), Secret Rendezvous(purple), Sheer Disguise(blue), Get A Clue(light pink) , and Studio M's French Tip (white). For the Silver lines I used Art Club's Silver. Then I used SESR's Pearly white color and their pure white.

In case anyone was wondering Yum Gum is part of Color Club's Wicked Sweet Line that is all Scented. And though I was hesitant, I still got these and they do not dissapoint!!! They smell awesome! And are scented the entire time you have your mani on.  Even through a top coat and other colors :)

Have a great day!!!

P.S. For anyone that is paying attention, I have used like the same 10 colors this entire weekend. This is due to the fact that all my nail polish is at school and it is physically impossible to bring them all back home haha :) Even though I want to!

Easter Mani - Day 2!

Sorry about how late this post is!! I just have been crazy busy with Easter preparations :) Anywhooo on to the manicure :)

This is a three coats of the lovely Sheer Disguise by Color Club. It was almost too beautiful to paint over!! It was a light dusty grey/blue. However, a warning when using this color: USE THIN COATS! I mean REALLY thin, otherwise the color will not dry fully and you will get ugly wrinkley nails even an hour after painting (With Seche Vite too!). The only way I found to solve this was using thin coats, and letting them dry completely.

Then using Color Club Secret Rendezvous (purple) and Color Club Get a Clue (pink) I made stripes to look like an Easter egg :) My original plan was to use tape to make the stripes but even after all of that waiting the tape kept getting stuck to the polish!!! What the heck?! I am hoping it was just this color or just this bottle because I have never had this problem with Color Club before. So i just ended up free handing it and it turned out good. I used Art Club By Color Club silver for the stripes and finished with Seche Vite.

I am going to be posting tomorrow but it will probably short and sweet and later in the day. Have a Happy Easter everyone!!

Easter Mani - Day 1!

Happy Friday everyone!! I have decided that I am going to feature easter inspired nails from now until Easter (and maybe even after that).

So here is Day one!! I did these for my little sister, it was the first time she had seen Konad, and lets just say she was superrrr excited :)

She couldn't pick just one color or just one stamp :) They look almost like eggs ! And of course, we had to add SPARKLES :D

The glitter is actually an awesome find from Meijer, Studio M's Magic Attraction. It is an awesome clear base stuffed with holographic glitter. [Not visible in pics because these are taken with a phone camera :( ]
Other colors I used from thumb to pinky : Studio M's Neon Caution, Color Club Twiggie, Color Club Get a Clue, Color Club Yum Gum, and Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Mint Sorbet.

These were all awesome colors to work with, opaque and pastel awesomeness :) I used Konad's Special White polish and a variety of plates.

Hope you are having a good day and hopefully enjoying your day off :)

ZOYA :):)

Okay so many of you have probably heard by now that the Zoya Earth Day Polish Exchange is going on, and if not CLICK ON THAT LINK :)

Basically the gist is that if you send in your crappy nail polish, they give you half off Zoya nail polish!!! Woo hooo!! So now, thanks to yesterday's blog haul and today's ordering, I went from owning NO Zoya, to owning.... well alot :)

Here are the colors I picked (It was soooo hard to choose!!)
Ki
Valerie
Crystal
Faye
Areetha
Charla
Adina
Apple
Reece
Ivanka
Gwin
Roxy

Also I got some of Zoya's base and top coat. I was hearing some things about how if you use any other brand they chip off easily? Oh well :)

As an added bonus the site automatically added color spoons for the intimate collection and mod mattes collection FREE :) I'm a happy camper hehe.

And on to the nail art of the day :)

TAA DAAH!!! Looks like a complicated manicure but it really wasn't. I just used my nail art striper to do a bunch of different patterns. I'm pretty proud at how well this turned out because I am rarely creative. This is actually being modeled by one of my friends (she said she didn't know how to be a hand model :) I used two coats of Studio M's French Tip for the base and added a coat of Seche Vite before putting the colors on. The colors do not have names they are just the nail art paints that are sold at Sally's with the brand name of So Easy Stride Rite. (Which will henceforth be referred to as SESR, mainly because I am lazy)

Well have an amazing Thursday :) I know I will love sleeping in ;)

What is your opinion about the Zoya top/base coat debate?? Do you get theirs or just say who cares? :)

Pink Wednesday!!

I just joined the awesome group of ladies who wear pink on Wednesday!!! Loveeee the mean girls reference and I am pumped to try out all of my pinks :)

Today is also the first time I used a zoya nail polish, and let me say it did not disappoint!! The application was smoother than.... well anything :) It was a tad thinner than the nail polishes I'm used to, but I dont know if that is a Zoya thing or because this polish is so sheer. I'm wearing Zoya Hayden, an awesome pink with tons of microglitter. It made my nails happy to wear it :) Although, it did still leave some visible nail lines but it wasn't terrible. I'll probably layer it over another pink next time.

And of course I got bored with that so I did some black tips...
20 minutes later I was bored with that too so I took out my Konad :)

This is the fishnet stamp from m57

Excuse the crappy quality of my pictures, I left my real camera at home and so I have had to take them all with my phone. Still, they are pretty decent for a phone camera.

Have a Great Wednesday!!!

A Thank You, A Polish Haul, and A Test

Happy Tuesday!! Well for me it is :) Easter break starts tomorrow!!
Well onto the blog post now, there is a lot of stuff I want to share haha :)
First, thank you sooooo much to my followers, I love and appreciate all of you <3

Second, Look at my awesome polish haul from yesterday!!

At college it is awesome to get a package in the mail, and yesterday I got TWO!!!
So from left to right:
Orly Space Cadet
Zoya Norra
Zoya Areej
Zoya Demi
Zoya Kamilah
Zoya Beyonnce
Zoya Eve
Zoya Lindsay
Zoya Hayden
Zoya Vanessa
Mode Jaded
Mode Arsonist

I'm super excited to try them all but I must say that having so many options makes me reluctant to pick any of them :( so I will probably have my roommate pick one or just choose with my eyes closed haha

Alright and third, I have been having a lot of problems with my nails peeling and so I picked up a bottle of Sally Hansen's Hardening Continuous Treatment. The polish is slightly creamy and opaque but you could definitely put it over top another polish without ruining the look. I am using it as a base coat for now....

Ew gross I know, bare nails. And they are all different lengths, but I figured to track how well this works I should refrain from cutting them down for now. The box said that in 10 days my nails would be noticeably harder and thicker. So I'll take daily pictures and post them all on the 10th day.

P.S - I wrote down allll of the nail polish I have and their names so look for my stash to be updated soon!

Zebra Nails :)

We had a dance this weekend and my awesome roommate let me do her nails for it. :)
Here is the manicure:

Excuse the nail polish on the skin, we were in a hurry.

I used Wet n Wild Teal of Fortune for the blue base and Sinful Colors Black On Black for the rest of the nail. I used Konad white nail polish for the zebra stripes and plate m57.

I love this manicure and I think its the best one I have done yet. Just for funzies look at how perfect they matched her dress!!

I love it!!

What do you think of the manicure? Have you done nails that matched an outfit before?

Starting Out :)

Okay so many of you may be surprised, or not so surprised to hear that I want to start a nail polish blog :) And just in case anyone wants to make fun of me for it see this picture....

Don't be mean or she will come and get you!!

Haha jussst kidding :) She is actually pretty normal and nice.

Most of the time :)

Okay on to the nails!!

I suppose my fascination with nail art started in August/September of 2010. I just found the nail art pens and brushes :) And I was hooked from there! Although I have always had a weakness for buying nail polish since I was a kid. haha :) And since I live in a college dorm word got out pretty quick about how I loved painting nails. I ran out of ideas pretty quick so we started to google ideas and from there I discovered the wonderful world of nail blogs!!! :D

Tonight my friend (pictured above :) convinced me to start one of my own. (It didn't take much convincing) And here I am!!

So on to the first manicure post!!
Here is my current manicure...

I got this idea from a fellow blogger though I can't remember who. Sorry!
The nail polishes I used from thumb to pinky:
Studio M - French Tip
Essie - Pop Art Pink
Color Club - Yum Gum
Color Club - Poptastic
Color Club - Warhol

And let me just say the whiff of bubble gum I get throughout the day is AMAZING! Not an overpowering scent and it is true to the label :)

I did the dots on my thumb by using a dotting tool and the colors from my other nails.

Thanks for listening to me ramble :D
