Dare to Wear and Perfect Match!

A few weeks ago I was luck enough to receive some polishes for review from LeChat Nails, owners of Dare to Wear Polishes.

They have this amazing idea of providing a 'perfect match' set of nail polishes. They have soak-off UV gel polish that is sold with a free bottle of regular polish in the same shade.

I received their UV top and base coat plus a set of Private Escort, and Princess Tears

Isn't this box adorable!?

Princess Tears, I never imagined it to have all of this multi-colored sparkle!!!

Private escort is a hot pink with a tinge of red.

Here it is on my friends nails...

You can see that it is rather difficult to photograph. I would say it is more color accurate on the nail picture.

I loved working with their gel system and I plan on doing a full photograph tutorial soon!!

Have you tried Dare to Wear polishes yet? I know I just heard of them when I requested a sample of their products!!

Here is another mani I did on my friend's nails!!!

We found the inspiration for this by a pin on pinterest, done by this blogger.

I used Jordana French white for the base, and Sinful Colors black on black for stamping. Then I went in and free-handed a heart using my stride-rite striping polish and outlined it in black.

She loved them and it really reflected her personality :) I was pumped I could re-create something like that :)

Revlon Bold Sangria

This is my Revlon Colorstay Review!!

When I heard about this I was super excited, being in college does not give you many opportunities to change your nail polish often. :(

So on the weeks I know I will be busy, I figured this would be a great alternative!!

According to Revlon: Gel-like shine and up to 11 days of shatterproof color, when worn with Revlon colorstay base and top coat.

So here is Bold Sangria with base coat, and two coats of color.

The base coat and top coat were really easy to work with, and the color was flawless! I was very impressed!

However, as you can see it dried significantly darker than the bottle color.

But I wanted to add black stamping (because this was going to be on my nails for 11 days) to spice it up. This picture was taken with flash after top coat. In significant light, it does match up to the bottle color, and you can see the stamping.... but irl I did not see the stamping much.

Due to my ridiculous exam schedule I kept it on for FOURTEEN DAYS!!!

Here is the wear...

Crappy cell pic, but you get the gist. For the first 9 days it was nothing but SLIGHT tip wear. Then it started to chip, but only when I used my nails for something, like scrubbing or washing my hair.

I was SUPER impressed with this nail polish and the next time I wear the nail polish I will take a daily pic to show the daily wear. I also want to see what happens if you use a different base or top coat....so expect experiments soon!!!

Here are my Valentine's Day Nails :)

They are the new LE Sally Hansen Salon Effects in Love Always.

I have to admit that 90% of the reason I bought these is for the french sayings on them. (I am obsessed with France) Unfortunately, they are too big to fit on one nail completely. But it says je t'aime ( I love you) and Amore (love) plus other english sayings in various fonts on a white background.

It looks awesome and I actually like having valentine's nails this way :)

This is on one of my friends nails, and she is still in nail polish overload after just HEARING about my stash lol. Needless to say, she has alot of mani's planned.

These were done with two coats of NYX Advanced Salon Formula in Delectable, and Jordana's French White. I used my bundle monster plates, but I forgot which ones.

SO GUESS WHAT?!

I got into Pharmacy School!!!!! Four more years and I will be a Doctor :) sort of :) Anywhooo I am so pumped and just wanted to share.

My Sister Sent me this picture....Its so adorable!!

As you can guess, school takes up a ton of my time and the future seems full of school as well. However, even when I am not posting, I am painting tons of my friends nails and my own :) For the weekends where I can schedule them.

Just wanted to explain my sort of erratic posting :) Hope you don't mind!!

On to the nails!!! Our school's colors are the same as the Vietnam flag, so the week of our pharmacy interviews and the week of the lunar new year... I did my Vietnamese friends nails....

I loved them! They were so festive, both for the new year and our college :)

This is tips in Orly Ma Cherie and outlined with a nail art brush in yellow. And topped off with seche vite.

I did these in the summer when she went to a festival. Next year she wants me to offer my nail art services at said festival lol. Everyone wanted her nails so badly! And I must say, it was my first time drawing flamingos on paper or nail.

(Ignore her silly finger, she is so self-conscious, but apparently thats what a life of holding a pen does, who cares!)

FYI, the bottles have NO holo effect even in the brightest sun... so strange but its good to know.

I need to go back home to do my moms nails!!!

Here are two things I did to other members of my family haha :) My two aunts! Still need help with hand positioning.... ;)

My Aunt: Two coats of OPI Eiffel for this Color and a coat of Icing Frost Yourself

This requires a special story, since becoming nail obsessed, this is the only one who would never let me touch her nails... My Aunt has been getting THE SAME MANI for over 10 years. OPI Blackberry. I can't even imagine having the same color on for so long.... but some how I magically got her to let me put some sparkles on them!! So this is 1 coat of Icing Glamorous over her previous mani.

(She says the only reason I was allowed to do this was because she was going to get her nails done the following day.... I will crack her one day though!!!)

Mom Monday Cheetah Nails!!

I am slowly teaching my mom the way to position your hand for a good picture!! You can see her progress :)

This was her New Year's Mani, it matched her shirt perfectly!! She got tons of complements too and got to brag about me and my little blog ;)

This one really shows the multi colored effect of the holo sparkles !!

This is two coats of Pure Ice Best Friend, with Sally Hansen Black Diamond tips. I stamped over it with Zoya Codie using m57. And then my mom needed her glitter (Wet n Wild Megalast Dasher),

I was pretty surprised how light Codie stamped, but I really liked it in the end.

Sula Ruby - more testing!

This is Ruby by Sula, it is another Paint & Peel Polish

I love this color!!! This was like a true red that got a dash of pink mixed in.

These pictures look a tad too red, this is 2 coats of polish with no top coat.

These are with top coat, and are more true to the real color.

I wore these for a day and a half, approx from when I woke up to noon the next day. I started absentmindedly peeling them off so I did not get a picture of their wear. It really was fine, just minor tip wear. Something I needed to understand was the dry time was slower than my usual seche vite. I should have waited about 10 minutes to do something rather than 10 seconds. haha.

Here is the problem though, I finally understood why people were upset with this polish originally. When I did peel it off, it took the top most layer of my nail with it. I dont know if this is due to the top coat or wearing it for more than one day, but I will be doing more testing for you guys so expect my testing to continue!! haha :)

As a side note, I couldn't stop staring at my nails when I had these on.... I just LOVED the color. It was oddly so boring but wonderfully unique at the same time! I will be wearing this a lot in the future!

Testing Paint & Peel!

Today I tested Moss. It is another polish by Sula's Paint & Peel Polish.

It actually changed colors as it dried haha

Left two are wet and right two are dry

No idea if it is supposed to do that or if it is just the way the color acts, it didn't really bother me though.

Here it is without top coat again, three coats.

They couldnt have picked a better name for this polish. It is a true forest green that randomly has some brown tones to it. I really love it and I have nothing like this color in my collection. I think Sula should offer their colors in regular polish as well because I would buy the normal version of this in a heartbeat!

I love how shiny they are!! They feel kinda like plastic-y to the touch though.

Nails to other people

After a day of wear here is my right hand...

You couldnt tell there was any tip wear though

My other hand, however, got into a fight with some plastic lol. Apparently this polish sticks to any kind of plastic and refuses to stay on your nail haha. It really isn't a problem, I was just trying to open something I should have used scissors on ;) I feel like top coat would fix this issue though.

And after one day they still peeled wonderfully! all off in one solid strip :)

I still have more tests!!! Come back tomorrow for more Peeling awesomeness!

Sula Paint & Peel Products!

I was lucky to be able to review 6 polishes from Sula's Paint & Peel polish line.

I really love the idea of this polish, I LOVE PEELING THINGS, like stickers or anything really!

I explain these to people like they are make up. You put them on in the morning and remove (peel) them before going to bed so you can start all over and match your clothes perfectly!! They, like make up, are not meant to be worn for days on end. Really, these should be applied daily.

Did I mention they were Big 3 free AND water based?? Plus, because they require no remover, no harmful acetone. They really are the definition of healthy beauty. They also carry fragrance and other make up!

Here are the products I received.

Top to bottom: Vermilion, Ruby, Tango Duos

These come with their top coat, lasting love, to add some wear time to the polish.

L-R: Moss, Blush, Royal

And the adorable dandelions thingys?? lol

The first one I chose to review was Vermillion. Here are the directions on the box...

I feel like this is the perfect orangey orange. Like true crayon orange haha.

Also, Something that I will be doing is showing you something I think is important... how OTHER people see your nails. So here are my nails from a short distance in general lighting...

I really noticed little difference in application than non-water based polishes. I was super excited for that! I was most worried about unevenness, but it really was minimal. The application was outstanding considering the fact it is water based.

I knew I wanted to try peeling these off right away so I did not add the top coat. I waited about 15 minutes and it peeled off perfectly!!! All one sheet, it was so fun! Then I decided to wait another hour, and I peeled off the rest. There was no difference in peeling ability (haha) it went perfectly.

Check in tomorrow where I put this polish to the test even more!!!

I'm A Frock Star!!

I love Sally Hansen Nail Effects. In fact, I buy wayyy too many and wear less than I wish I did. A friend bought me these way back when they first came out and I am just getting around to wearing it. I have used these about three times before so they are pretty easy to apply now, but for tips and full info click here to see All Lacquered Up's article from when they first came out.

This is it in Frock Star. Here it is the day I put them on....

I did put a top coat on (DONT USE SECHE VITE) but not a quick drying one. I used Seche Vite the first time and I wondered why they curled up on the edges so quickly.... it was Seche's fault haha. The strips however do not require a top coat.

And here they are after 10 days. (Sorry for the crappy phone picture)

It basically looked perfect!!! It may have been because of the glitter, and the 'clear' base let it look a lot more forgiving. I was just bored out of my mind

And in case you wondered... this was a PITA to remove just like a real glitter.

Do you like the Nail effects like I do?? I wish there was a cheaper version without the file and stick haha

Qtica Nail Growth Stimulator Results

During one of Zoya's Flash Promo's. I received this Qtica Natural Nail Growth Stimulator. On the back, it says in 14 days you should see up to a 1/4 inch growth in your nails.

To test it, I started by filing my nails down to nubbins. :(

Then I applied it every 2-3 days when I changed my polish (as it instructed) as a base coat.

And I did not file or cut my nails AT ALL.

Here are my nails on day 14....

I honestly feel like my nails would have grown this length by themselves over 14 days, but I am not sure. I suppose I should do a control test some other day...

But when used regularly I am sure this would be great! Just remember that it only helps length, no other nail problems like peeling.

My First Illamasqua!

Yes, it has taken me a loooong time to justify spending this much on nail polish... But Once I saw the 'matte' ones I knew I needed this red. No idea why but it called to me :)

This is with two coats of polish and no top coat. I love the satiny feel!

And I added top coat to my middle and pinky finger for reference. It is a beautiful red cream all the way. Burgundy without looking grandma-y. Seriously in love with this polish right now.

How about you? Do you spend money on high end polish or do you like drugstore ones better?

Brand Wrap Up: Jordana

Final Day: Rich Green!

(I know I said a week, but I only had one more to swatch so I figured what the heck)

I love this green! I seriously think it is my favorite green in my whole collection! It applied beautifully with two coats. I cannot make up my mind if I want to call this a cream or a jelly so lets just say it is both!

My Final Verdict on Jordana:
This has been my first experience with this brand, and I must say that I am impressed. For the price, I think they make great creams that would add to any polish-lovers collection. I was shocked when I tried to look up swatches before I bought them, that not many bloggers own/review them. They deserve a lot more credit! I would love to try more of their jellies and creams. They do an okay job with the other finishes, but they pale in comparison to the coverage and beauty of the creams. I will definitely buy more of these!!

Jordana Lavender Fields

Day 7: Lavender Fields

I love this color!! I had weird application issues like odd bumps but I think that was due to something on my nail and not the polish. This covered very well with two coats and no top coat. I like the way it looks with my skin tone as well, almost like they wash each other out but in a good way.... I dont know! haha

It was a great cream just like the other ones I have reviewed.

Jordana In Love

Day 6: In Love

This was my first true issue with coverage in Jordana polishes. I needed three coats and it could have used more. I am not really bothered by visible nail line though. Something else that bothered me: it looked much more pink in the bottle, and on the nail it seemed very orange. Other than that it was a pretty shimmer polish, shifting from light to darker orange/pink. These pictures are without top coat. I liked this polish but I was not 'In love' hahaha. I'm so punny :)

What do you think? Love it or Hate it?

Jordana Chiffon

Day 5: Chiffon

I am on a never searching quest for a good nude for me. There are two issues.

1. I hate nudes

2. I am paler than pale

For these reasons, I cannot seem to find one that complements my skin tone. I saw this and thought it possibly could because I liked the color.... Now I am not so sure. But it applied wonderfully and it only needed one coat (I applied two however). This is also without a top coat.

I am going to leave it up to you! Does it look gross or good. Be honest!!! I will love you no matter what! :D

Jordana Boy Oh Boy!

Day 4: Boy Oh Boy

I really applaud Jordana for their cremes. I saw all the reviews that I could for Jordana and everyone raved about the creme polishes and I totally agree! They really hit it out of the park with this one. I love it! It really reminds me of the perfect summer blue. Like the color you want the ocean to be haha :) This was a one coater, but I used two out of habit. This is with no top coat, and it really shined. I am in love with creams lately, no idea why haha.

Don't you love this blue? Am I the only one loving creams???

Jordana Mellow Yellow

Day 3: Mellow Yellow

This first drew my attention because it was a yellow jelly. I don't think many companies try this because yellows are hard enough to layer on its own. But I think Jordana nailed it with this. It had wonderful coverage in 4 coats (remember its a jelly!) and still kept that gummy awesome look. I honestly wanted to wear it on its own that is how much I loved it. To me, it is really unique in finish and coverage. This is without a top coat also!

Jordana Purple Glam

As you can tell, the top coat really helps but It would probably be better with a second coat of it to really even it out. This is a deep royal purple with bar and micro holo glitter. It is really pretty but needs a thick amount of top coat to not look bumpy and weird. This is with 2 coats, so far jordana is living up to good coverage!!

January Maven Box!

I keep forgetting to take pics of my Maven boxes, but let me just say, I LOVE THEM :) I never regret spending the $20 for tons of products. It is well worth it and also makes me try new colors, which I love to do but can't bring myself to buy haha :)

My box is American Beauty... Which is really the one that fits me PERFECTLY. I rarely change my box to another style (but you could easily change it :) )

Literally how I opened the box! Adorable!

I always think 'Julep, you already won me over!! Use your cuteness on someone else!'

I received two bonus nail polish remover pads!

And Pomegranate body scrub, I am normally not a fan of pomegranate smelling things, but I will let you know when I open it! BUT I was just thinking of how I needed to exfoliate my hands... Convenient :)

ANOTHER bonus....I honestly have no idea how they afford to do this program, but I am NOT complaining :)

Here is something I noticed though:

The packaging is different!! Now the name is found on the bottom and the top. I Love this new method and I hope it is not temporary because I felt the need to rip the top sticker off soooo many times hahaha :)

Since I started the maven program, I have started using cuticle oil, hand lotion, and now hand scrub!! They remind me I need to care for my hands and my nails :)

Weeks Of Swatching!

I have decided to do a week of one Brand every once in awhile, as you may have noticed the poll says Zoya won (and I am working on that) but I already had a week of Jordana swatched :) SO here goes nothing!! :)

Day 1: Jordana Pink Bunny

This was my first experience with this brand, and I must say it was a good one!! It was great coverage! Ignore the strange bumps on my nails (something got caught in there) and you can tell it's a very smooth creme polish. No top coat! I used two coats but it could have easily been done in one!

It really reminds me of true pink and bubblegum :D Yum!

Stacy's Mom Has Got it Goin on!

Small Backstory: My mom has always wished her name was Stacy. When she was a kid that is what her pretend name was. (P.S. Mine was always Crystal :) )

SOOOOO I thought as a cute little christmas gift, I would get her Zoya Stacy.

She loved it and said that not only was the name perfect, but the color was her favorite color crayon. Perfect huh?

So here is her first "Stacy" mani :)

This is two coats of Stacy with tips of Studio M Magic Attraction.

Here it is blurry to see the holographic sparkles!!!

It was super cute and she keeps showing everyone!!!

As another side note I am SO grateful that she did not name me Stacy (She wanted to) because everyone says my mom is hot and I DO NOT want that song sang to me lol. Every time I hear Stacy's Mom I cringe a little before singing along :)

And that is my embarrassing story for the day!!

Zoya Indigo!

I just got this polish from Zoya's Flash sales and I immediately wanted to swatch this baby because of the holographic sparkles!!

Just look at them!!!!

But did they go on the nail? NO :(

Even though I was super bummed about the holo sparkles disappearing, in some lights you could still see SOME sparkle (see above pic).

It is still a beautiful color. Above is two coats with topcoat. It applied like a dream (as all zoya's do). It was a super deep blue that was almost black in dim lighting.

Did any of you see the disappearing act when you wore it? Do you still like the polish?

Christmas in... January?

Since I never gave myself time to blog pre-holidays I wanted to show what mani's I did for Christmas!!!

First up are my Mom's Nails. She said she wanted 'Santas Belly!!!"

I am still teaching her how to control her fingers :) Shes so cute!!

I used 2 coats of NYC Times Square for the base and then Sinful Colors Black on Black for the belt, White on White for the fluffy haha. And a striper polish for the buckle.

I loved the way they turned out and she got so many complements!!

I figured today would be a good time for reflection!!

Lets look back at some of my old *shudder* mani's. (Before I knew about hand position and clean up)

You may or may not have seen these, I can't remember if they have been posted and honestly its fun to look again!!!

My first attempt at free handed art, two colors and a flower!!! OH WOW! haha

I love this, need to try again! All Free hand and I am pretty proud of myself haha

TMNT!! I could do WAY better now, another one to do again, and on bigger nails haha

As you can tell, zebra became my comfort nail art haha

Did these watching a nail art tutorial on youtube (my first try!) I can't find it, but let me know and Ill give credit!!

When I found Chloe's Nails....ahh I would stalk that blog like no ones business. My first attempt with tape and nail polish!! Pretty good :)

This was when I got my first konad plates!! Pre-bundle monster so I figured I would only ever have 5 plates hahahhaahahahha So wrong :)

This was an attempt to see what I could do with marbling with a toothpick, I tried various techniques and colors. Some look pretty cool. My first experimenting :)

I have a BLINGY mani today :) just for the occasion.

There are three coats of Pop A Bottle by Icing on my four fingers. And 3 coats of Gold Accessory by Maybelline on my thumb nail.

To show the pink and blue

Pop a Bottle is a glitter packed sheer base polish. It is mainly gold micro glitter, but there are some pink and blue glitter in there as well that show up great on the nail but not in the photos :(

This is my pre-new year mani, I am going to be changing it for the actual night/day.

Excuse my dry hands!

They are supposed to be fireworks :)

I used 1 coat of Sinful Colors Black on Black, then a coat of WnW Megalast Blackmail. That has multicolored glitter in it, but on the nail it wasn't visible :( I was thinking it would make it look like the starry sky but oh well.

Then I stamped 'fireworks' on with several metallic golds and silvers. I used BM02 for the plate and Orly Luxe, Zoya Richelle, and Zoya Trixie.

I really loved this manicure upclose but it was far too subtle to wear for new years. I need some bling!!!

First Franken :)

This was the first 'franken' I ever tried!!! To be honest, its really not a franken... more of a way to save one of my sally hansen magicals :)

I used polish thinner to get all the dried remnants of the magical out (bad ebay purchase haha). And added the wet n wild dark purple to it.

I ended up using WAY too much purple (first franken, remember?) so I added some of the spectraflair holo topcoat that I had.

Inside, not much holo, but a pretty color!

And outside!!

It is a very slight linear holo, but I really love the subtle effect it gives. Like a secret that I know and no one else :)

I named it Lena after the main character in one of my favorite book series, Beautiful Creatures. She is very unassuming like this polish, but has a hidden beautiful secret ;) Deep, I know haha.

Black Friday Haul :)

Since I have been gone there have been TONS of nail mail days, and unfortunately I just unpacked them and screamed without pictures ;) haha

So I figured I would show my black friday/cyber monday nail polish haul!!

Hey!! As you may have noticed I just up and left the blogging world :(
I just kept putting it off and off until I was so nervous to even go on my page in case there was any comments about my absence! I know, silly :)

But anywhoo, it was because of COLLEGE. Ugh. It really has been wayyy more stressful this year, so my reward is going through all my polishes, purging, and buying more!!

My new interest is frankening :) so expect to see those soon! I am also going to be a swatching manic over break so I can support my blog with *hopefully* daily posts!

Soooo I will start posting again tomorrow! As for then, I purged my stash, I got rid of over 100 polishes....my stash is now over 700!!!

Day 23 - Inspired by a Movie

For today's inspiration I chose Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2.

I actually did these nails the day before the premier but never posted them.

I did all of this art with my Stride Rite nail art stripers. From L-R: French Flag, Harry, Ron, Hermione, Hedwig.

The flag is because this mani was on France's independence day

From L-R: HP Logo, Lightning Scar, Deathly hallows logo, Luna's Radish earrings, and A broomstick.

And an upclose of the characters.

I loved these, they were soo cute!!! And I loved the movie :) I am totally obsessed with Harry Potter. Actually its funny because my two favorite things are harry potter and nail polish.... as you can see by my tumblr..

Day 22 - Inspired by a Song

I LOVE the Beatles. :) So I chose Strawberry Fields Forever as my song inspiration.

I used BM -212 as the green stamp as grass (or fields haha). Envy by Sinful Colors is the Green I used.

And I added this before clean up shot because you can see the E on LOVE. my finger is too small haha.

BM 05 is the strawberry stamp, I used Ruby Ruby by Sinful Colors.

And BM 09 is the Love stamp, I used Traffic Jam by ChG

I really love this idea actually, and if I were to wear it I would probably put the LOVE stamp on my thumb and strawberries on all the other fingers.

Day 21- Inspired by a Color

Today I chose to be inspired by the Color Blue.

I started by putting two coats of Respect the World (matte) by Nicole by OPI.

Then I added nail art on my thumbs with Curaco by Sephora.

I left my fingers all matte except for my thumb with I added Seche Vite to.

Day 20 - Water Marbled

Okay don't be mad, but I have neither the time nor the resources to do a water marble in my dorm room! So here is my only water marble I have ever done, and I know I have shown it before.... but its the best I can do.

I put a layer of White On by Sally Hansen before the water marble.

I used Ruby Ruby by Sinful Nail colors (Red) and Fly away by Sinful Nail Colors (blue) for the water marble.

Don't worry tomorrow will make up for today!!

Day 19 - Galaxies!!

AHH!! Its my birthday :D

I have never done galaxies before either, mainly because I felt like it looked like a lot of work. Now, I realize its really quite easy! And I am glad this was my birthday one because I love it!!

I started with a coat of Black on Black by Sinful Nail Colors.

Then for an added bonus added Fantasy makers Glow in the Dark.

It looks pretty cool on its own here!

Then I dabbed on CND effects in Raspberry Sparkle, Crimson Sparkle, Gold Sparkle, and Jade Sparkle.

Then, to make the stars, I put a top coat over the entire nail with Twinkle, Twinkle by Sally Hansen. That was perfect because it had small square glitter and larger hexagon glitter to make the stars!

I love it!!! I am actually still wearing it too! I want to do a lot of different galaxies now!

Day 18 - Half Moons

I have never actually liked the look of half moon mani's but I actually wore this for about 5 days!!

I started with 2 coats of Pelican Gray by China Glaze, which I thought was a beautiful gray creme. But then I took it in the sun anddd...

Bamn Hidden Shimmer!!!

It is a pretty silver shimmer!

Then I put french tip guides on the bottom of my nails.

Ew ignore the bubbles. Then I added My Kind of Kool-Aid by Cult nails.

This was my best one lol

THEN I got bored. And added spectraflair top coat to make it holographic. Pretty!! wooo holo!

It was so pretty and I really loved having it on :)

Day 17- Glitter!!

Obviously I am on a Cult Nails kick, this is due to my awesome haul :)

I started with 2 coats of In the Lime Light (Neon) by China Glaze. (Looking back I wish I did 3 coats)

Then I added a coat of Hypnotize Me by Cult Nails.

It is a great green jelly base with blue and green glitter! Sooo pretty. And from what I heard, you can layer it over pretty much everything and it will look great.

Day 16 - Tribal Print

Disclaimer: I have never done tribal print before and I am not very good at being random lol

I started out with 2 coats of Cult Nails Devious Nature. No idea why I only took one picture of this... Sorry for the crappy quality.

Then I added thick lines of an off white with my striper brush.

And added random dots and stripes with a black striper brush.

I'm not too good at it... but at least I tried right?!

Day 15 - Delicate Print

Oops my scheduling didn't work.... So prepare yourself for three posts in one day!!

Surprisingly this day has been the hardest for me to come up with....

I started with two coats of Stiletto by Jessie's Girl. This was another buy influenced by Nouveau Cheap's blog.

It is a 'nude' that has a wonderful silver shimmer! I say 'nude' because my skin is so pale, nudes look like beige/mauve on me.

Then I added stamp m80 with Sally Hansen's White On.

I love this design and color combo, but I don't know how delicate it is.... but this is what I think of when I think delicate. haha :)

Day 14 - Flowers :)

Fun Fact: the only thing I can draw on paper is Flowers :)

I have gotten better at other things because of nail art, but flowers will always be my favorite.

Day 13 - Animal Print

Omggg I do so much animal print for my friends I figured I would just spam you with pics :) I never wrote down any names I used so sorry about that.

This is the first nail art I ever did!!! EVER! It was right after I got my first striper polish.

LOVE! I need to do this again!

This is the first time I ever did more than one color on a stamp at a time. It was super stressful to do really quick so it wouldn't dry but it looked awesome!!!

Day 12 - Stripes!

Today is another Nouveau Cheap Inspired purchase... See her post about it here.

I made sure to stalk the crap out of the 2011 Fashion Week collection because I knew there was two polishes with hidden blue shimmer, but I didn't remember their names.

Here is one!! Purple Trend by Maybelline.

BAM! It does look very similar to a bruise color, (I thought it was brown at first) but it is deep purple.

It was super hard to capture the blue shimmer in this one, but it was night time so I couldn't tell you if the sun would have helped.

Even without the shimmer it is a beautiful color.

Here it is under artificial LED light. Super amazing right??

Here is what I came up with for the stripe challenge!! I did a mani before this and found I suck at vertical lines, so i stuck to some other versions. I could totally see myself wearing this instead of stripes that were all the same!

Day 11 - Polka Dots :D

For the next couple posts I tried to use my untried polishes that I bought recently!

So here is Mermaid's Lagoon by Jessie's Girl, it is a new LE polish from the Julie Collection.

The reason I got this polish was a post by Nouveau Cheap that showed the awesome shimmer! I am completely obsessed with her blog so if you haven't checked it out- GO NOW!

This is one of the most color-accurate and shimmer showing pictures I got. It was super subtle and I must say, its why I fell in love with it!!! Going in the sun with this would be crazy awesome!!

This is inside in indirect lamp light, you can see that it looks like a creme almost, its like a hidden surprize just for you!

For the challenge of the day, I wanted to do something a little more original and this just popped in my head. I fail at making straight french tips and this is a good way to get around that! I would totally wear this as a full mani one day. Plus I love the color combination!

I would also like to remind everyone to keep the families and friends of those who died today ten years ago in their thoughts and prayers. I was in elementary school when it happened and I know that if it affected me like it did, I could not have imagined it as an adult who knew all the consequences.

Day 10 - Gradient Nails

Day 9 - Rainbow Nails

Here is a mani I did like a few weeks ago for my friend and totally forgot about. But I love it so I wanted to share it with you.

Day 8 - Metallic Nails

My nail polish selection is very limited right now at college. I realized I really have no metallic nail polish. This is the closest one I've got and I am going to call it a bronze lol.

This is Chocolate Kiss by Ulta. It is a wonderful chocolate brown with crazy shimmer. Like I said.... not really metallic but oh well.

All pictures are of two coats in indoor lighting without flash.

Do you like?? I actually never use brown nail polish, and I actually love it. I will definitely need to use more.

Ah!! Bare nails! But here is one coat of the nail therapy! I love it!!! It smells sooo good and I can't get enough. It really makes my nails feel great.

And two coats of Cameron! Here it is in indirect sunlight.

No Top coat! The shine is amazing. I think this is the pinkest pink I would ever wear. Its bright but not blinding and it is by far my favorite pink I own now!

It wore very well! I put a coat of Seche Vite on after and it lasted a week of intense college moving with barely any tip wear.

Now to clarify the issue that has been bothering a lot of bloggers lately. The referral link given out to the first sign-ups to the Maven program did not work. Day 7 - Black and White

Okay today's nails started out with an awesome idea and kinda turned into a fail. However, I would probably still wear it.
I started with two coats of Sally Hansen White out. And my plan was to stamp piano print on it in black.... but it would not transfer!!! AHH! I want that stamp to work sooo bad. I have not given up yet!!

So instead I used... plate m22

Yeah ignore that it is upside-down. I actually made them all look different like that. I dont know why that would seem like a good idea, but it looked like I had shaky hands while stamping.... idk.

If i did this mani again I would put them all in the same direction.... probably like my middle finger diagonally.

So what do you think??? Fail or okay??

Day 6 - Purple !!!!!!

Purple is by farr my favorite color, so this was difficult to decide... I chose Carry On by Essie because it is an awesome fall color and I just got it, (WITH A COUPON). haha

I think this picture shows the potential this color has when in sunlight. It is super stormy here so this is indoors with flash. I would say it would never truly be this color but this is the color it is based on.

This is what it looks like indoors without flash, it is a great vampy color. A tad lighter than this IRL.

Then I stamped it over with Zoya Dove using BM 206 and then put Seche Vite topcoat on it.

I love this mani so much I am wearing it right now :D Ill update this post with wear later.

Day 5 - Blueee :D

Hey guys!! I love this polish!! I have a need now to get ALL Sally Hansen Xtreme polishes. This came from a haul I got recently from Walgreens.

Here is two layers of Sally Hansen's Deep Blue Sea. It is a great glitter/shimmer dusty blue. \

Day 4 - Green !!

I am pretty proud of my regular posting lately!! Hopefully it becomes a normal thing :)

First I started with 2 coats of Ulta's The Jungle Look. It is a beautiful green creme that does look jungle-y.

Then I added a coat of Revlon's Ocean on my middle and pinky finger.

In the shade

In the sun you can totally see the amazing shimmer and slight duochrome of Ocean.

These are two great colors that I would love wearing separately, but I am not sure how well they look together...

Okay so no matter how many pictures I took, this color will NOT show up correctly. This color hates me. Maybe this is why orange is my least favorite color??

Okay this is Essie Meet me at Sunset. This is a bottle shot that is kinda close to the right color, but it is a bit more red in real life.

Here is probably the most true to color picture. This is outside with no flash.

So I figured if I put it next to a red flower, it would look less red.... I was wrong.

This is a red/orange creme just trust me, It is probably my favorite orange I own even if it is a pain in the butt.

Lets get to the post!!

Day One -Red

I decided to show my back-to-school mani, I wore this on move-in day :)
Our colors are red,yellow, and black and this is what I came up with!

This is two coats of Zoya Jasmine over a base coat by Julep.

Then I added black lines in a tick-tack-toe formation.

Then I added the same pattern but in yellow off to the side.

This was a great way to do a different more intricate plaid. It was totally distracting!! But everyone loved it and it lasted a long time!

I am moving in to school this Thursday so I am planning on scheduling my posts for the next week based on the challenge post I did earlier :)

I did all my manicures for the first week but forgot to post them because I am a lameo. I am probably the only person that is planning so much about where I am putting my polishes in my dorm ;)

I have figured out I can probably put about 80 polishes in my setup (out of over 300 that seems like nothing!!) and today is my day to decide which ones i am taking :( I AM IN PANIC!!!!

Any suggestions for which kind or colors etc I should take would be appreciated :)
Also, I gave out free manis (with nail art) all of last year, due to my increased spending I need to charge them something just to offset costs. It really sucks but I can't afford to waste my polish ever day on approx 5 people a day.

So I also need some advice on how much to charge. I am thinking one charge for plain nails and an additional charge for nail art. Keep in mind these are poor college students.

I know I know, I am late. But in my defense I was at the hospital yesterday for a reallllly annoying procedure. And I slept the rest of the day. I am finally feeling normal so here goes :)

I apologize for the wear on some of these, I painted my mom and my grandma's nails and it took me a week to track them down to take a picture of their nails haha :)

These were my grandma's nails. She was so excited whenever people asked where she got her nails done :) She was proud lol. I started with a coat of White Out by Sally Hansen, then taped off her nails and added Color Club Chelsea Girl (blue), and OPI An affair in Red Square (red). And topped it off with silver Stripe Rite striper polish.

That OPI is hers actuallly, the ONLY nail polish she owns, CRAZY :)

These were my mom's nails. She does this thing where I paint the base coat and she just keeps asking for more and more lol. I used China Glaze Sexy in the City for the base coat, then she wanted dots. So I added dots of White on by sally hansen. Then she wanted red tips, that is An Affair In red Square. Then wanted me to line them with white. phew! It took awhile but she was satisfied :) I think they look like wonder woman!

These were my nails at one point. I think I will be doing them again for the 14th of July because that is France's Independence day and It looks like their flag :)

This is a total fail. I had high hopes for this in my head but it just sucked! I did the red base coat on my nails (Ruby Ruby by Sinful Nail Colors) and Blue (Fly Away Sinful Nail Colors) on my thumb and ring fingers. Then I used the Spectraflair top coat for a funky french. It was super messy so i added the line of white to make it look better. The problem was, I was on my way somewhere so I lined them while in a car. NOT a good idea. It was reallly hard to keep it steady. Then I added a star of the opposite color on each. I was in a hurry and in a car but if I would have taken my time it would look alot better :)

This was what I ended up with as my mani! It was my first water marble ever! I love how it came out :) I used the same red white and blue as above. Plus I didn't like the way my thumbs turned out so I added a second coat of water marbled and it was soooo cool! It was kinda see through so you could see the bottom layer. It gave it a cool depth. So now my thumbs are my fav! Click it for the awesomeness!!!

So there you have it! I am gunna start scheduling my posts so hopefully they are more regular :)

Glitter Week Day 7!!

Alright well I honestly have 13 posts of glitters so this whole 'glitter week' isn't an actual week thing! haha :)

There are only 6 more days to enter my giveaway! So be sure to run and do that :) My plans are to add two more prizes: one for an additional winner (4 prizes total) and one for the person with the most unique comment. These things will happen only if I reach 200 followers :D So run and tweet and tell everyone and their brother! lol i love odd sayings.

Each is two coats of glitter by themselves.

Here they are again, each with one coat of black and one coat of glitter!

Here is a close up of Magic Attraction. It is a clear base (its hard to tell) with just a crap ton of glitter! Its pretty amazing. I might pick up another one for my giveaway just because it is so unique. Most of the glitter is a coppery brown with holographic glitter also.

Here is a close up of Gem. It looks dupey to the glitter above, I'll do a comparison eventually. The main difference is this has a colored base. I don't know what color to call it honestly. Almost a brown leaning mauve. lol. Either way, it is also packed with glitter and holographic glitter.

Here is a close up of Queen of Beauty. It is a clear based glitter with true silver glitter. No holographic or changing colors. It is actually pretty awesome without holographicness. As you can see, it does not like to spread out evenly by itself. So i recommend a color underneath it.

Here is the glow in the dark nail polish. Claire's makes a bunch of different colors of glow in the dark nail polish, and this one is the white/clear version. It has light sparkles and you cannot tell it is glow in the dark. It is a great topper to give that extra pizazz. From what I can tell, the more layers of this polish - the more glow in the dark it is. I recommend at least three layers of it to make it glow!

Glitter Week Day 6!

Hey girls!! (and guys) I am really failing at remembering to post everyday!! I read other nail blogs and the facebook groups so much I forget to pay attention to my own blog!! :)

Onto the glitterryy goodness :) This one was the one I was the most excited for... I wanted to compare some of my holographic glitters.

Here they are in the sun, blurry to see the glitter.

Here is a close up of Northern Lights. It is a clear base with holographic glitter that also doubles as a top coat. I honestly don't see what all of the hype is about with this top coat. I suppose it is cool that it is a top coat and not just a glitter, but I had to have TEN layers of this to get the glitter coverage I wanted. Not okay...

Here is a close up of Dasher. It is a limited edition polish so that stinks because it is a mini and I really like it! It is a clear polish with tons of silver/holo glitter.

Here is a close up of the snowman. It was on clearance for like 50 cents at meijer so I figured, what the heck? If you do enough coats this is a linear holo!! Woot. But I have no idea who made it. It also doesn't like to cover easily as you can see on the right picture. But for the price, you can't beat it.

Here is a close up of Fairy Dust. It is another clear based polish with similar glitter to Northern Lights. It is pretty holo as well. When I took these pictures I was like.... Um okay?? Where is the magic? But it really doesn't show its true potential until you put it over a color. Which I did... Later that day lol. Post to come :)

So.. What do you think?? Did I kill any lemmings for showing these? lol. I don't know if I would purchase Northern Lights if I had seen these pics before. It has good glitter for someone who doesn't want too much glitter.

I know it is pink Wednesday! But I need to go in order for my glitter posts because I am OCD about that. Oh! And at this point I have 115 followers :D:D:D:D:D:D:D I could not be more excited!!

Here is a close up of Frost Yourself. I love the movie reference for this nail polish!! It has a clear base with big circle silver glitter, and HUGE hexagon silver glitter. Super original in my opinion and it has a holographic effect as well!

Here is a close up of Kaleidescope. It is a great glitter for the price and I think everyone should have it!! It is one of the prizes in my giveaway too!! It is a clear base with tons of micro glitter and bigger circle glitter. It is also holographic in the sun! :)

Here is a close up of Starry Silver Glitter. It is another great cheap glitter!! It has a clear base with a bunch of silver holographic glitter and then some bigger hexagon glitter in blue, purple, and silver. A must have!!

Here is a close up of Glamorous. It has a clear base with TONS of glitter. In the right pic you can see how holographic it is!! And that wasn't in any direct sun!!

I love all of these because of the holographic effect, it just gives an extra oomph to an old mani. :)

P.S. Because I swatched all of these glitters during the course of one day, my cuticles get stained black more as the week goes on. Please don't mind this! It was literally impossible to get off no matter how hard I scrubbed. :(

I am so excited to say I have reached 100 followers!!!!!

AHHHH!!!!!!!! I really expected to only reach maybe 10 people. I don't know if you know, but my friends basically had to force me into this blog because of my overwhelming shyness. If you look at the first couple posts I was so awkward and I don't know, just odd. I still might be like that, but I feel good about it now! The polish groups on facebook really help me out too! I love all of you girls and everything you taught me!

Here they are in the same order over black. Only one coat of glitter.

Here is a close up of Last Friday Night. It is a blue jelly like base that is really sheer. It is packed with mini glitter and bigger glitter.

Here is a close up of Epic Winning. It is another Charlie Sheen polish. It has a clear base but you couldn't tell with the amount of glitter stuffed into this polish. It definitely needs a thick top coat! It has mostly blue and sliver glitter but the random orange pieces make it really unique.

Here is a close up of Atlantis! It seems like a jelly polish, because you can see all of the glitter from the previous coats! A great green-leaning turquoise, with silver and holographic glitter!

Dorthy Who? Is one that I was bound to love. It is a true blue with a crap ton of silver glitter!

As you can see, today was all of the blue based glitter!
